Since 2017, the Center at St. Matthew's has partnered with River City Food Bank (RCFB) to create a major food distribution center in the Arden-Arcade area that will also serve as a hub for smaller food pantries. Set in St. Matthew's former sanctuary building, RCFB's new facility at St. Matthew's offers more than 7000 square feet of indoor space, including a 9700 cubic foot refrigerator/freezer unit, a large storage and distribution area, a community conference room, and staff offices.
Originally established in 1968 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, River City Food Bank is Sacramento's oldest continuously serving food bank. RCFB's mission is to alleviate hunger in Sacramento County by providing healthy emergency food and other assistance, offering referrals, and promoting self-sufficiency through a variety of nutrition, education, and outreach programs. From seniors to children, from the homeless to the working poor, RCFB assists all struggling individuals and families in Sacramento County.
Food distribution hours are:
RCFB at St. Matthew's (2300 Edison Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95821)
Saturdays, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
or
RCFB Midtown (1800 28th Street, Sacramento, CA 95816)
