Welcome the Refugee: Highlands Community Charter School
Since 2015, the Center at St. Matthew's has partnered with Highlands Community Charter Schools to bring adult language and literacy education to the St. Matthew's campus. Professional teachers engage adult learners (age 22 or older) as they learn English and, in some cases, as they learn to read for the first time. Most students at the St. Matthew's campus are refugees from conflict zones in Afghanistan, Syria, and Iraq.
